Landis Farm in E. Hempfield a perfect place to call home

Popular EGStoltzfus community now offering home sites in second phase

When Steve and Lilian Smith were ready for a new home there were two certainties: They wanted to stay in the Hempfield School District and they wanted to build with EGStoltzfus.
Two months ago, the Smiths got everything they wanted and more when they moved to Landis Farm, an EGStoltzfus community of single-family and carriage homes in East Hempfield Township.
“We fell in love with the community,” Steve says.
They also fell in love with the Magnolia floor plan, the largest of 12 single-family models available in the community. The Smiths are the first to build a Magnolia in Landis Farm.
The four-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath home has over 3,200 square feet of living space and an open-concept first floor that has become a hallmark of EGStoltzfus’ new design collection.
“We love how you come in the house and it’s all open,” Lilian says.
“We like to entertain,” Steve adds. “We like to have friends over. We like to have Sunday dinners.”
The spacious kitchen, which includes a bar area and a large island with seating, opens seamlessly to the great room with vaulted ceiling and gas fireplace, creating the perfect spot for gathering family and friends.
And for those Sunday dinners the Magnolia features a spacious formal dining room.
Lilian also likes the first-floor study/office, which comes in handy for her work with Alyssa’s Bedtime Stories, a charity that purchases books and pajamas for children in shelter homes throughout Lancaster County.
The first floor also includes a walk-in pantry, laundry and mudroom area.
Upstairs, the spacious owner’s suite includes a private bath, walk-in closet and seating area, where Steve enjoys relaxing and reading.
Son Preston, 9, has a bedroom with full private bath and walk-in closet. An additional full bath connects to 5-year-old daughter Briella’s bedroom and also opens to the hallway across from a fourth bedroom/guest room. A pocket door separating the toilet and shower from the double-bowl vanity allows for multiple users on busy mornings.
The Smiths added a number of upgrades to the home, such as central vacuum, but some of their favorite features are the ones that were standard in the Magnolia, including built-in mudroom cubbies and soft-close drawers and cabinet doors.
The Smiths’ home backs up to green space and the community’s walking trail. The lot was originally reserved by another buyer, and when it became available unexpectedly the couple jumped at the chance to build on it.
They view the green space and the trail as an extension of their backyard, a place where their children can play, fly kites and safely ride their bikes.
Landis Farm is conveniently located off Harrisburg Pike, just minutes from Park City Center, Spooky Nook Sports and downtown Lancaster. And for Steve, general sales manager for Faulkner Automotive Group, and Lilian, an instructor at Hempfield Rec Center, their new home is also minutes from work.
As Steve notes, this is the second home the couple has built together and their seventh home address. “We have a little experience,” he says.
That’s why they chose EGStoltzfus, a company with a reputation for quality and craftsmanship.
“We loved working with EGStoltzfus,” Steve says. “They’re great with communicating, and we loved the process.”
In addition to the single-family home plans, EGStoltzfus also offers five carriage models in Landis Farm. Single-family homes start in the mid-$350s and carriage homes in the upper $200s.
Phase I of the popular community is nearly sold out, and phase II is now fully released with three sites already under agreement.
For those who don’t want to wait, a single-family spec home, the four-bedroom Glenwood American, is currently available. At 2,655 square feet, the home is priced at $429,700.
