BIA launches Holiday Holiday Homes on Parade

Tour Dec. 1-2 to highlight new and remodeled homes all decked out for the holidays

Everyone looks their best when they’re dressed in their holiday finery — and homes are no different.
So what better way to showcase a home than when it’s all decked out for Christmas?
That’s part of the idea behind Holiday Homes on Parade, the newest tour of homes offered by the Building Industry Association of Lancaster County.
The tour, Dec. 1 and 2, will feature nine newly built or newly remodeled homes in Lancaster County decorated for the holidays.
The BIA already hosts the successful Parade of Homes every June to showcase the best work of local builders along with the latest in home design trends.
“We just thought doing one in the holiday season would be a fun time to showcase homes as well, because you get a different vibe,” says Jared Erb, designer/partner at Custom Home Group.
Erb, who came up with the idea for the holiday tour, notes that while the summer parade can include outdoor living ideas, like patios and pools, the December tour puts the spotlight firmly on indoor design and decor inspiration, like cozy accent lighting.
“It gives builders a whole new way to showcase their products and home,” he says.
Unlike its summer counterpart, Holiday Homes on Parade will also feature remodeled homes. Of the nine stops on the tour, seven are new homes and two feature newly remodeled kitchens from Kitchens by Eileen in Lititz.
She does amazing work,” Erb says. “Up until now, there’s been really no avenue to show that to the public.”
About half the homes on the tour are occupied, Erb says. One is a townhome, and several are model homes. The holiday decor at each home is at the discretion of the homeowner or builder.
“I think they will all be unique in their own way,” Erb says. “A lot of the homeowners are excited about it.”
Each stop will also include holiday treats and beverages.
